Your pet is a valued part of your family, and seeing them struggle with allergies can be difficult. At San Marco Animal Hospital, we provide effective, customized treatments to relieve their discomfort and support their long-term health.

Understanding Pet Allergies

Allergies in pets, especially in dogs and cats, are commonly triggered by environmental factors, food sensitivities, or skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis. This condition often compromises the skin barrier, leading to persistent itching, ear infections, and a higher susceptibility to bacterial and yeast infections. Early intervention with the right treatment is crucial to managing these conditions and enhancing your pet’s well-being.

Signs of Allergies in Pets

Identifying symptoms early can make a significant difference in managing allergies effectively. Common signs of pet allergies include:

  • Persistent itching and scratching
  • Hair loss in patches
  • Red, inflamed skin
  • Dull, dry coat
  • Eye discharge
  • Recurrent ear infections
  • Noticeable odor from the skin or coat

Since these symptoms may also indicate other health concerns, a precise diagnosis is essential for effective treatment.

Our Allergy Treatment Options

At San Marco Animal Hospital, we offer a range of allergy treatments, including canine and feline allergy medications, to address your pet’s specific needs and improve their quality of life:

We offer allergy medications for dogs and cats to ease itching and inflammation, as well as treat other symptoms like ear infections and eye discharge.

Our allergy tests for dogs and cats help identify specific allergens through blood or skin tests, guiding customized treatment plans.

Creating hypoallergenic diets or elimination diets that can effectively manage food-related sensitivities in pets.

Prescribing medicated shampoos and creams that offer effective itch relief while promoting healthier skin.

Immunotherapy, including allergy shots for dogs, can offer lasting relief for more severe allergies.
