Can dogs and cats get Salmonella infection?

Yes, unfortunately, our furry friends are susceptible to becoming ill after exposure to Salmonella. Symptoms of pets with Salmonellainfection include decreased appetite, abdominal pain, fever, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, and bloody stool. Some healthy pets may not show any symptoms but can be carriers and infect other animals or humans after exposure to Salmonella. While no pet or human illnesses had been reported due to the recalled pet food as of late March 2021, you should speak with Dr. Gutta if your pet consumed the recalled pet food.

Can I get Salmonellafrom handling my pet’s food?
